Your file never leaves this computer
- It is read and drawn by code running in this browser tab. It is not uploaded, not stored on a server and not seen by anyone.
- This page has no analytics, no cookies and no third-party scripts, and the browser is told not to let it contact any other site.
- To place your people it downloads the Atlas's own place files for the countries your tree mentions. Our server can see which countries were asked for; it never sees your file or a name from it.
- People who may be alive are shown on your own screen. The shareable export leaves them out, and you can hide them with one tick.

Starting…
Your browser is running a mix of old and new copies of this page's code, so results may be wrong (people missing from the search, for example). Reload with the cache switched off, or open the page through scripts/serve-local.py.
Workbench
Fix and add to your tree here. Nothing changes in your original: your edits are listed below, drawn on the tree straight away, and written into the new file only when you . They live in this page only, so export before you close it.
Find a person
Type a name or a record number and the matches appear here. Or press Add a year beside anyone in “Not drawn yet”: they open here, so the list on the right stays where it is while you work.
Look this person up elsewhere
Not drawn yet
People with no year, so no place on the tree. A year here puts them on it.
Maybe the same person
Same name, same sex, born within two years, not related as parent, child or spouse. Marking a pair merges nothing: it writes a link between the two records.

Fix list
Work down each list in the tree you keep elsewhere: copy, paste, tick. Ticks stay in this page, so download the list to keep your place. Each row says why, what to do next, and what the Atlas holds for that place, year and name. “Generate PDF” opens your browser’s own print window over a copy made here: choose “Save as PDF”. Nothing is uploaded.
Offer places back to Record Atlas
Optional, and nothing is ticked. Places this page could not read, or that you chose by hand, can help the Atlas learn them. Only the place text goes into the message: no names, no dates, no people, no counts, no file name. This page sends nothing. You tick the places you want to offer, read the message below, and send it from your own email or copy it. Places used only by living people are never listed.

The message
An address with a number in it (a street, a plot) is left unticked because it can point at a home. Trim it to the town if you want to offer it: the text boxes are editable.
Export your GEDCOM, improved
Your own file, line for line, with only the changes you choose. Nothing is dropped or rewritten without being listed in a change log, and nothing leaves this page: the new file is made here and saved by your browser.
Working…
Programs differ. Putting the new file into Ancestry, MyHeritage or Family Tree Maker usually makes a new tree rather than updating the old one, and they may ignore the coordinates. This has been checked only by reading the new file back here, not yet in another program.
