National Archives of the Philippines
Holds the Spanish-era civil and notarial records and, crucially for Filipino genealogy, the 1849 Catálogo alfabético de apellidos — the decree that assigned surnames by town and is why a Filipino surname often names a province. Answers 403 to a script; opens for a person. Harvested and its address opened, nothing more: what it holds, what is online and what it costs to look are unchecked here.
