Service historique de la Defense (Vincennes)

The French defence ministry's historical service. Its homepage lists individual files of officers among its most-consulted inventories, a browser for conflicts and operations, simple and advanced search, search by thematic plan and a link to digitised archives, and announces a large digitisation of the GR 16 P sub-series at Vincennes. The homepage does not say which periods the officers' files cover, whether any soldiers of the Revolution and Empire or of the conquest of Algeria are searchable by name, or link to a database of them.
